Police Mutate 1,121 Personnel, 190 Police Chiefs Promoted and New Polresta Established in IKN

The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has carried out a large-scale rotation of high-ranking officers (Pati) and mid-level officers (Pamen). A total of 1,121 personnel were transferred via seven Telegram Letters (ST) issued on 25 June 2026, as part of an organisational refresh and effort to strengthen the institutional structure. Of the total personnel transferred, 748 received promotions or equivalent lateral position changes. The rotation also includes the promotion of 190 Kapolres/Ta/Metro/Tabes, the establishment of one new Polresta in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) area, four new Type D Polres, and the upgrading of eight Type D Polres to Polresta status. The Head of Public Information for the Polri Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Andiko, stated that the mutations are part of a career development mechanism and an effort to improve organisational quality. ‘Mutations and promotions are part of the organisational dynamics aimed at enhancing professionalism, leadership capacity, and the effectiveness of Polri’s duties in providing service, protection, and security to the public,’ Brigadier General Trunoyudo told reporters in Jakarta on Friday. The seven Telegram Letters issued include ST/1335/VI/KEP./2026 for 74 personnel, ST/1336/VI/KEP./2026 for 359 personnel, ST/1337/VI/KEP./2026 for 65 personnel, ST/1338/VI/KEP./2026 for 174 personnel, ST/1339/VI/KEP./2026 for 150 personnel, ST/1340/VI/KEP./2026 for 104 personnel, and ST/1341/VI/KEP./2026 for 195 personnel. This reshuffle also provided greater opportunities for policewomen (Polwan), with 45 female officers receiving job promotions, including 17 entrusted with the position of Kapolres at the IIIA2 level. ‘The increased role of Polwan in strategic positions demonstrates Polri’s commitment to developing professional, high-integrity, and competency-based human resources without gender discrimination,’ Trunoyudo said. In addition to promotions and job rotations, the policy includes the inauguration of eight personnel, job placements for 68 graduates of leadership training and doctoral programmes from the Police Science College (STIK), and the dispatch of 37 personnel to attend management and development education programmes for the 2026 fiscal year. Brigadier General Trunoyudo emphasised that all mutations are based on organisational needs, a merit system, and continuous performance evaluations.
