JAKARTA (JP): City police detectives are searching for a man
who allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend on Friday, a
spokesman for city police headquarters said.
Police had earlier apprehended another suspect, identified as
Soni, who is believed to have illegally possessed the gun and
bullets used to shoot Intan Sari Dewi, 24, at the latter's house,
on Jl. Matraman Raya, Kebon Manggis, Matraman, in East Jakarta,
on Friday afternoon.
Police found another two guns, six magazines, a bag containing
bullets and other material evidence, such as a blood-spotted bed
sheet, bed and pillows and the empty shell of a .46 caliber
shotgun at the scene of the crime.
At least five people, including three key witnesses, have been
questioned so far.
"We have made no significant progress, in our investigations,
as to the whereabouts of the main suspect," spokesman Lt. Col.
Bambang Haryoko told reporters yesterday.
The suspect is identified as Jacky D.
Based on preliminary police investigations, he is believed to
have shot Intan in the arm, with the bullet then piercing her
chest and back.
After the shooting, Intan, who was covered with many tattoos,
was rushed by her friends to the nearby Cipto Mangunkusumo
General Hospital.
Intan died within minutes of arriving at the hospital.
Unfortunately, medical personnel at the hospital failed to
identify her friends, who left the hospital immediately after
being informed that Intan had died.
Police arrested Soni over the weekend. Three key witnesses,
identified as Hendra Baby, Lukman Hakim and David, are being held
for questioning.
Two other witnesses, identified as Arif and Vera, have also
been questioned.
Police sources said that Jacky shot his girlfriend after she
found him, at the house, having sex in the toilet with Vera.
Following heated arguments, Jacky, who lost his temper, took a
gun and allegedly aimed it at Intan.
"It's a matter of jealousy," said an officer.
Spokesman Bambang refused to comment but said, "We'll find out
the details after we have arrested the main suspect."
All the guns, magazines and bullets are being kept for further
tests at city police headquarters. (bsr)
