The National Police Headquarters (Mabes Polri) will conduct Operation Ketupat 2026 to secure the flow of mudik (homecoming) traffic and the return journey for Eid 1447 Hijri over two weeks from 13 to 25 March.

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that Operation Ketupat would involve 161,000 combined personnel from the military and police along with related agencies and stakeholders.

“This year we are implementing Operation Ketupat, which we will commence from 13 March until 25 March, and this year’s tagline is ‘Safe Mudik and Happy Families’,” he said during a Cross-Sectoral Coordination Meeting at the Police Academy (PTIK) in Jakarta on Monday (2 March).

He explained that Operation Ketupat would be led by the Head of the Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho. Sigit stated that during the operation, the police would prioritise preemptive and preventive measures whilst reducing law enforcement actions.

“We certainly hope to work together maximally for the success of services during both the homecoming and return traffic flows,” he said.

During the implementation of Operation Ketupat, the police will establish a total of 2,746 security posts and integrated service facilities distributed throughout Indonesia.

He detailed that 1,624 posts would be focused on security and serve as information centres and traffic management hubs.

A further 779 posts would function as service posts providing rest areas for tired drivers. Meanwhile, 343 integrated posts would serve as operational control centres for Operation Ketupat 2026.

“These will also include rest areas and various services we are preparing for the public undertaking the mudik and return journey,” he said.

Furthermore, the National Police Chief stated that a total of 185,608 security-sensitive locations would be the focus of officers, ranging from places of worship, tourist attractions, shopping centres, terminals, ports, railway stations, and airports.

“It is certainly necessary to involve related stakeholders to jointly provide services at tourist sites, places of worship, public transport, mudik routes both on tolls and main roads, inter-island crossing routes, shopping centres, and rest areas,” he said.
