Police Launch Operation Ketupat 13-25 March, Deploy 161,000 Combined Personnel
Jakarta – Kapolri (National Police Chief) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has announced that the National Police will conduct Operation Ketupat beginning 13 March through 25 March 2026. Hundreds of thousands of combined personnel will be deployed to provide security and services for the public undertaking the Lebaran homecoming journey.
This was stated by Sigit while leading a cross-sector coordination meeting regarding the readiness of Operation Ketupat at the PTIK Building, South Jakarta, on Monday (2 March 2026).
“Therefore, we are implementing Operation Ketupat this year, which we will commence from 13 March through 25 March,” said Sigit.
Sigit outlined that this year’s theme is “Safe Homecoming and Happy Families”. In its implementation, Sigit said, priority will be given to preemptive and preventive measures, and law enforcement.
“Of course, we will endeavour to minimise these as much as possible so that this truly becomes humanitarian service,” remarked Sigit.
Sigit also disclosed that the operational structure has been established with slight modifications. The Special Operation Commander (Kaopsus), led by the Traffic Commander (Kakorlantas), will be able to effectively control all units when discretionary decisions need to be made.
Furthermore, Sigit stated that 161,000 combined personnel will be deployed during Operation Ketupat to maximise security and public services during the Lebaran outbound and return traffic flows.
“We have 161,000 combined personnel, comprising the National Police, then the Military, relevant agencies, and all stakeholders. And we certainly hope this will enable true maximal cooperation for the success of both the outbound and return traffic flows,” concluded Sigit.
