Police Lab Tests Reveal 'Whip Pink' Flavour Variant Was Camouflage, Contents Pure N2O Gas
The Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the Indonesian National Police has conducted laboratory tests on ‘Whip Pink’ products manufactured at a factory in North Jakarta. According to the results, the cartridges contained pure nitrous oxide (N2O) gas.
“Several of the cartridges we seized were taken to the Police Forensic Laboratory (Labfor Polri) and the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) laboratory. Based on the examination results from both the BPOM and Polri labs,” said Senior Commissioner Zulkarnain Harahap, Head of Sub-Directorate III of the Bareskrim Narcotics Crime Directorate, in a statement on Friday (24/7/2026).
Zulkarnain stated that the flavoured variants of Whip Pink were suspected to be a camouflage. This was revealed following the examination of the contents of the Whip Pink cartridges.
“The contents we brought for laboratory testing were all purely N2O gas, there was no flavour. We found no flavour in the samples we sent to the lab,” he said.
Zulkarnain noted that the misuse of Whip Pink gas could fall under criminal offences related to health. He urged the public not to abuse the gas.
“Even so, the consequences of using N2O gas are quite damaging, because its use is not accompanied by oxygen. So when it is inhaled, the oxygen in the body is extracted,” he said.
“One user we examined, based on their medical records, suffered a significant loss of potassium, one of the consequences of this,” he added.
It is known that the police uncovered a Whip-Pink production case in Jakarta. Two individuals have been named as suspects.
Police raided the Whip-Pink nitrous oxide (N2O) production house in Jakarta on 13 April 2026. During the operation, Bareskrim secured hundreds of Whip-Pink cartridges ready for distribution.
The Sub-Directorate III team of the Bareskrim Narcotics Crime Directorate raided two locations: a shop house on Gang Mantri, Kemayoran, and a warehouse on Jalan Rajawali Selatan Raya, North Gunung Sahari, Pademangan District, North Jakarta.
Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, Director of Narcotics Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, stated that the action was taken following the rampant misuse of the Whip-Pink N2O brand. The team conducted an undercover buy to identify the product’s distribution point.
During the raid, officers found a man with the initials SU (56), who was the stock keeper and delivery person. Based on SU’s interrogation, the team moved to the second location and secured four men: ST, Sul, Sup, and AS, who were employees producing Whip-Pink.
Officers also seized evidence including machines for refilling N2O gas from large cylinders weighing 27 kg, 30 kg, and 32 kg into small Whip-Pink brand cartridges weighing 580 grams, 640 grams, 950 grams, 1,320 grams, and 2,050 grams. Police also detained a woman with the initial E at a rented house in Pulogadung, East Jakarta, who served as the sales administrator and accountant.
Most recently, Bareskrim Polri named Andy Hioe and Jasen Hioe, the bosses of the Whip-Pink factory in Central Jakarta, as suspects. They are alleged to have produced and distributed medical supplies or pharmaceutical preparations that did not meet standards.
“Currently, the examination of Andy Hioe and Jasen Hioe is underway as they comply with the second summons as suspects,” Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso told reporters on Wednesday (22/7).
