Police: Jeep Mercy Was Travelling at High Speed in Fatal Toll Road Crash

A Jeep Mercedes-Benz was engulfed in flames after crashing into a trailer truck at KM 01.400 A on the Jagorawi Toll Road heading towards Bogor in the early hours of Friday. Police said the Jeep was travelling at high speed when it struck the rear of the truck.

The accident occurred at 02.15 WIB. It began when the Jeep Mercy was travelling from the north in lane two.

“The trailer and the Mercedes were both travelling from the north in lane two. Upon reaching the scene, the Mercedes, travelling at high speed, struck the rear right side of the trailer,” said Kasat PJR Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya, AKBP Reiki Indra Brata Manggala, when contacted by journalists on Friday (21/8/2026).

The collision was unavoidable. The Jeep Mercy was completely burnt out following the severe impact.

The driver and passenger of the Jeep Mercy were reported to have died in the tragic incident.

“The impact caused both vehicles to collide, and the Mercedes, along with its driver and passenger, caught fire,” he said.

The identities of the two victims remain unknown as the entire vehicle was destroyed by fire. The handling of the accident case has been transferred to the Traffic Accident Unit of East Jakarta Traffic Police.

“My officers have reported that the matter has been handed over to the East Jakarta Traffic Accident Unit. The identities are not yet known because their identification documents were burnt,” he added.
