Police issue safe driving tips for Puncak route during Eid holiday
Bogor — The Traffic Unit of Bogor Police has issued several tips for motorists travelling through the Puncak tourist route during the Eid holiday period to avoid travel disruptions and reduce the risk of accidents.
Ardian Novianto Azhari, head of the Operations Section of the Bogor Police Traffic Unit, stated that drivers must ensure their vehicles are in optimal condition before beginning their journey.
“We urge the public to use vehicles that are genuinely in good condition, as the Puncak route is characterised by uphill stretches and frequently experiences vehicle congestion,” Ardian told ANTARA at the Simpang Gadog Integrated Post on Saturday.
He explained that poorly maintained vehicles risk breaking down in the middle of congestion, exacerbating traffic density.
“Drivers can stay updated on traffic management procedures from the Bogor Police Traffic Unit to determine the best time to depart,” he said.
Information regarding traffic conditions and traffic flow management along the Puncak route can be obtained from the Bogor Police Traffic Management Centre (TMC), which provides regular updates through social media and official information channels.
Ardian also cautioned the public about weather conditions in the Puncak area, which remains prone to rainfall during March.
“Rainfall is still quite substantial, so drivers must be vigilant, maintain safe distances, and avoid parking near slopes or cliffs that are susceptible to landslides,” he said.
“Additionally, maintain a safe distance between vehicles to prevent rear-end collisions,” Ardian added.
He also recommended that drivers use service posts along the Puncak route if they feel fatigued before continuing their journey.
