Police Invite Security Guard to Report Altercation with Alphard Driver

Police have invited security guard Victor Harefa to file a report following a dispute with a Toyota Alphard driver who ran a red light in front of Hotel Pullman, Central Jakarta. After the altercation, both parties were mediated at the Thamrin police post, where Victor was allegedly intimidated. Menteng Police Chief AKBP Braiel Arnold Rondonuwu stated that during the mediation, both parties agreed to forgive each other. However, police are open to receiving a formal report if any party feels aggrieved. “I have conveyed that if the individual feels wronged or uncomfortable with the driver, we welcome a report,” Braiel told reporters on Friday (24/7). Braiel added that his team would follow up on any report in accordance with legal provisions and procedures. Nevertheless, he claimed that no acts of violence or intimidation were found during the mediation process at the Thamrin post. “We are still clarifying the actual process at that time. But it is clear that during the process, there was no violence experienced by the individual. No hitting or violent acts, none at all,” he said. Previously, a video circulated on social media showing a Toyota Alphard running a red light at a pelican crossing in front of Hotel Pullman, Central Jakarta, leading to a confrontation with a security guard. The incident began when pedestrians were crossing as the traffic light showed red for vehicles, but the Alphard continued driving through. A security guard who was also crossing reprimanded the driver, who allegedly did not take the warning well. “The security guard then scolded the driver by banging on the car window. The driver did not accept this and a verbal altercation ensued,” Braiel explained. Both parties then went to the police post to seek mediation and agreed to make peace. It was later discovered that the black Toyota Alphard was allegedly using a fake or mismatched licence plate. The vehicle was using the registration number D 1828 XHQ. A check on the West Java Regional Revenue Agency’s online vehicle tax service revealed that the number plate is registered to a silver metallic Daihatsu S401RV-ZMDEJJ. Regarding this, AKBP Ojo Ruslani, Head of the Traffic Law Enforcement Sub-directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, said his team is also investigating the use of the plate. He stated that they will summon both the Alphard driver and the security guard for questioning. “I will issue a clarification summons to the Alphard owner and also to the security guard involved in the argument with the driver. Afterwards, we will confront them at the Traffic Law Enforcement Sub-directorate,” Ojo said.
