Police Invite Security Guard to File Report on Alphard Driver Who Ran Red Light

Police have confirmed there was no violence in the case of a Toyota Alphard driver who ran a red light at the HI Roundabout in Central Jakarta and argued with a security guard who reprimanded him. The police are also inviting any aggrieved party to file a police report. “We would like to convey that if there is anything unsatisfactory or if any party feels displeased, we invite them to file a report,” said Menteng Metropolitan Police Chief AKBP Braiel Arnold Rondonuwu to reporters at the Menteng Metropolitan Police Headquarters, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (23/7/2026). Braiel stated that the police are ready to follow up if there is a report related to the case, especially from the parties involved. “Especially from the related party, we invite them to file a report if they feel dissatisfied or displeased during the process or during the mediation. We welcome it and will follow up according to the legal process and procedures,” he explained. Braiel added that the police will summon both parties for further clarification regarding the matter. The police will also clarify the social media post by Victor, who claimed he was asked to prostrate while apologising. “Regarding the claim of being asked to prostrate, I need to clarify this with both parties. We are still clarifying with the person concerned about what the real process was like at that time,” said Braiel. It was previously reported that the driver of the Toyota Alphard ran a red light at the HI Roundabout in Central Jakarta and argued with a security guard who reprimanded him. Police stated that the Alphard driver had been issued an electronic traffic ticket. “He was caught by an electronic traffic enforcement camera,” said Menteng Metropolitan Police Chief AKBP Braiel Arnold Rondonuwu when contacted on Wednesday (22/7). Braiel explained that the security guard at the location reprimanded the Alphard driver for running the red light by banging on the car window. The Alphard driver did not accept this, leading to an argument. “The security guard then reprimanded the driver by banging on the car window. The driver did not accept the security guard’s action and a verbal altercation ensued,” he explained. Both parties then went to the Thamrin Police Post. The police facilitated mediation and the matter was resolved amicably. “After both parties agreed, they forgave each other and shook hands. It was resolved amicably with the help of mediation by the officer at the Thamrin Police Post,” he said.
