Police Invite Security Guard to File Report on Alphard Driver Who Ran Red Light

Police have confirmed there was no violence in the case of a Toyota Alphard driver who ran a red light at the HI Roundabout in Central Jakarta (Jakpus) and then quarrelled with a security guard when reprimanded. The police have also invited any party who feels aggrieved to file a report.

“We would like to convey that if there is anything unpleasant or unsatisfactory for any party, we invite them to make a report,” said the Head of Menteng Metro Police, AKBP Braiel Arnold Rondonuwu, to journalists at the Menteng Metro Police Station in Central Jakarta on Thursday (23/7/2026).

Braiel said the police are ready to follow up on any reports relating to the case, particularly from the parties involved.

“Especially from the parties concerned, we invite them to make a report if there is anything they feel dissatisfied or displeased about during the process or during the mediation. We invite them to do so and will follow it up according to the process and legal procedures,” he explained.

Braiel added that the police will summon both parties for further clarification regarding the matter. The police will also clarify a social media post by Victor claiming he was asked to prostrate himself while apologising.

“As for being asked to prostrate, that is something I need to clarify with both parties. We are still clarifying with those concerned how the process actually unfolded at the time, what really happened,” said Braiel.

For context, the driver of a Toyota Alphard ran a red light at the HI Roundabout in Central Jakarta and then quarrelled with a security guard when reprimanded. Police said the Alphard driver has been issued with a traffic ticket.

“An electronic traffic ticket,” said the Head of Menteng Metro Police, AKBP Braiel Arnold Rondonuwu, when contacted on Wednesday (22/7).

Braiel said the security guard at the scene reprimanded the Alphard driver for running the red light by banging on the car window. The Alphard driver took offence, which led to the quarrel.

“The security guard then reprimanded the driver by banging on the car window. The driver was displeased with the security guard’s actions and a verbal altercation ensued,” he explained.

Both parties then went to the Thamrin Police Post. The police facilitated a mediation and the matter was settled amicably.

“After both parties agreed, they ultimately forgave each other and shook hands. It was settled amicably with mediation assisted by the Head of the Thamrin Police Post,” he said.
