Police invite residents to prevent brawls through 'Jaga Jakarta On The Spot'

The Vital Object Security Directorate (Ditpamobvit) of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police is inviting residents to anticipate and prevent youth brawls on Jalan Kelapa Hijau, Utan Kayu Selatan, Matraman, East Jakarta, through the ‘Jaga Jakarta On The Spot’ (JJOTS) initiative. Director of Vital Object Security, Senior Commissioner Joko Sulistio, explained that the presence of his personnel within the community aims to deliver public security and order messages directly, particularly regarding the supervision of adolescent activities. “Through the Jaga Jakarta On The Spot activity, we invite the community to work together to protect the neighbourhood, prevent brawls, and increase awareness of children’s and teenagers’ social interactions,” he said in a statement received in Jakarta on Saturday. According to him, the JJOTS activity also involves the three pillars at the sub-district level, the head of the neighbourhood unit, the RW 01 Sub-district Consultative Council, community police officers, as well as local religious and community leaders. “This synergy is considered crucial to strengthen supervision in residential areas,” he stated. During the outreach, he urged parents and residents to be more active in monitoring their children’s use of social media. In addition to anticipating brawls, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s Vital Object Security Directorate also reminded residents to be aware of the dangers of illicit drug distribution among the younger generation. He also mentioned that the public is asked not to hesitate to immediately report any suspicious activities in their neighbourhood to the authorities. Joko emphasised that efforts to create a safe situation in Jakarta cannot rely solely on the police, but require commitment and cooperation from all elements of society. “We hope that residents, the three pillars, religious leaders, and community leaders can continue to synergise in maintaining environmental security. With shared concern, the potential for brawls and drug abuse can be prevented early on,” he said. Through the Jaga Jakarta programme, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police is committed to continuously encouraging active public participation in safeguarding residents, protecting the environment, upholding rules, and maintaining trust to realise a safe, orderly, and conducive situation in the capital city.
