Police investigating death of SMAN 5 Bandung student in Cihampelas incident

Bandung (ANTARA) — The Bandung Metropolitan Police Resort is conducting a thorough investigation into the death of Muhammad Fahdly Arjasubrata, a student at SMAN 5 Bandung, who allegedly became a victim of mob violence on Cihampelas Street, Bandung on Friday, 13 March.

“Please trust Bandung Metropolitan Police to conduct further investigation and inquiry into this incident,” said Acting Head of Bandung Metropolitan Police Kombes Pol Adi Wijaya in Bandung on Sunday.

According to him, the case is currently being handled by the Criminal Investigation Unit of Bandung Metropolitan Police.

He also urged the public not to be provoked and hoped that no further consequences would emerge from the incident.

“We hope that from last night’s incident, there will be no secondary effects that could occur later,” he said.

Previously, an amateur video recording showing a clash in the Cihampelas area went viral on social media. The video showed a man, allegedly the victim of mob violence, lying on the roadside.

Coblong Police Chief Riki Erickson previously mentioned that preliminary indications suggest the incident involved students from SMAN 5 Bandung and SMAN 2 Bandung.

“Yes, a student from SMAN 5 Bandung has died, and it is currently being handled by Bandung Metropolitan Police,” said Riki.
