Police Investigate Viral Couple Stealing Fortuner Car Mirrors in North Jakarta

A video of a man and woman allegedly committing theft in the Penjaringan area of North Jakarta has circulated on social media. The pair are suspected of stealing a side mirror from a Toyota Fortuner vehicle.

In the video viewed on Monday, 2 March 2026, the two arrived by motorcycle and appeared to survey the area around the incident location.

The incident is reported to have occurred on Saturday, 28 February. After observing that the area was quiet, one of the perpetrators proceeded with the theft.

The suspect was filmed removing the right side mirror from the Fortuner. Both then immediately fled the scene.

Penjaringan Sector Police Chief AKBP Agta Bhuwana Putra stated that his unit has commenced an investigation and has already conducted checks at the location.

“We are still investigating; our officers checked the location from the beginning,” said Agta.

He added that authorities are currently examining CCTV footage to identify both suspects.

“We are still processing CCTV and investigating to the maximum extent,” he said.
