Police are still investigating a suspected robbery case accompanied by the murder of a married couple at a residence in Prima Lingkar Asri housing complex, Jatibening village, Pondok Gede district, Bekasi, West Java, in the early morning hours on Monday, 2 March.

“The perpetrator remains under investigation, including the number of perpetrators,” stated Kasat Reskrim (Head of Criminal Investigation) of Metro Bekasi City Police Station Commissioner Andi Muhammad Iqbal in a statement on Monday.

He explained the chronology of the robbery case began with a report from the victims’ daughter regarding the incident at the crime scene. “The one who discovered it first was their daughter who lived there. So the three of them lived together,” he said.

Andi added that the daughter, who was usually awakened by her mother for sahur (pre-dawn meal) preparation, unexpectedly was not awakened until an alarm sounded at 04:00 WIB. “Then the daughter eventually went downstairs for sahur, but she was shocked because the house was still dark and there was no response when she called out to her parents,” he explained.

Seeing this situation, the victim attempted to open her parents’ bedroom door, but it failed as it was suspected to have been damaged. The daughter then called other family members and managed to reach the crime scene and forcibly opened the bedroom window.

“It was then that both victims were found lying down. Her father, with initials EU, 65, was found dead, and his wife P, 60, was in critical condition,” Andi clarified.

The Kasat Reskrim also mentioned that the injuries suffered by the victims were caused by blunt object strikes, all to the back of the head. However, police are still awaiting official confirmation from the hospital.

“As for missing items, according to the daughter’s statement, gold bracelets on the victim’s hand and two car keys. The rest are still being documented by us,” he said.
