Police investigate robbery caught on CCTV in Tebet

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Police are investigating a robbery captured by a CCTV camera on Jalan Tebet Barat Raya, Tebet, South Jakarta, in the early hours of Saturday (29/8) at around 5.35 a.m. Western Indonesia Time.

“That is correct, it is currently under investigation,” said Tebet Police Chief AKP Ischak when contacted in Jakarta on Monday.

Ischak confirmed that his team has been monitoring the case.

At present, police are still conducting an investigation to uncover the incident and identify the perpetrators.

He said police are also still gathering information from a number of witnesses who knew about or saw the incident.

The number of witnesses who have been questioned is still being compiled by the police.

Based on the Instagram account @jakartaselatan24jam, two young men can be seen being chased by a group of motorcyclists.

The two then entered the yard of a grocery stall to avoid their pursuers.

Several of the pursuing youths can be seen following them into the stall’s yard. One of them is believed to have been carrying a sharp weapon.

In the recording, the motorcycle used by the two young men was then taken by the pursuing group. The suspected perpetrators subsequently left the scene with the motorcycle.
