Police Investigate Report Against Ade Armando and Abu Janda Regarding JK Sermon Video
Metro Jaya Regional Police are currently investigating a report against Ade Armando and Permadi Arya, alias Abu Janda, regarding allegations of incitement and provocation arising from a segment of a sermon by Indonesia’s 10th and 12th Vice President, Jusuf Kalla (JK), delivered at the University of Gadjah Mada (UGM) Mosque some time ago.
“It is true that there is such a report. Currently, the report is still under review,” said the Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, to reporters on Tuesday (21/4).
Budi explained that the complainant reported the matter under suspected Article 48 of Law No. 1 of 2024 on the second amendment to Law No. 11 of 2008 in conjunction with Article 32 and/or Article 243 of the Criminal Code.
The complainant’s side also submitted several pieces of evidence for further investigation.
“The reported evidence consists of three sheets of documents, a printout of screen conversations, and a flash drive,” he stated.
Ade Armando and Permadi Arya were reported to Metro Jaya Police in connection with allegations of incitement and provocation following a segment of JK’s sermon at the University of Gadjah Mada (UGM) Mosque some time ago.
The report was filed by the Maluku Advocacy Profession Alliance (APAM) and registered under number LP/B/2767/IV/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA.
“We visited Metro Jaya Police to file a police report regarding the alleged criminal acts of incitement and provocation suspected to have been committed by Mr. Ade Armando and Permadi Arya through social media,” said APAM representative and complainant Paman Nurlette to reporters on Monday (20/4).
Regarding the matter, Ade stated that he does not understand the substance of the report filed by APAM. This is because Ade claims he did not edit or clip the JK sermon video.
“I don’t understand the substance of their report. Why am I accused of clipping Mr. JK’s sermon, causing an uproar? I did not clip or edit and then disseminate it. What I did was merely comment on the JK sermon segment that was circulating online,” Ade said when confirmed on Monday.
Nevertheless, Ade stated that he would follow the legal process regarding the report of alleged incitement and provocation.
Meanwhile, Abu Janda did not comment much on the report. However, he suspects that the report was made out of hatred.
“Clearly, that report is based on hatred and political vendetta,” he said.
