Police investigate potential criminal aspects in fallen telecom pole case in West Jakarta

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Police are investigating potential criminal aspects in the case of a telecom pole that collapsed and struck two rented houses on Jalan KH Hasyim, Pondok Cabe, RT 06 RW 01, Kembangan Utara, Kembangan, West Jakarta (Jakbar). “The investigation process is still undergoing further examination by the Reskrim unit,” said Head of Public Relations for the Metro Jakarta Barat Police Resort, AKP Wisnu Wirawan, when contacted in Jakarta on Sunday. Based on witness statements, Wisnu said, the incident occurred while several workers were installing a tower sleeve on Saturday (11/4) morning. “According to witness accounts, workers began installing the tower sleeve at 08.00 WIB. At that time, the sleeve twisted, causing the support pole to become unstable,” Wisnu stated. As a result, the telecom pole collapsed and struck two rented houses in the area. The incident also left one resident named Ahmad (53), who sustained minor injuries. “Injuries include a bump on the top of the head and a scratch on the right ear,” Wisnu explained. Earlier, a telecom pole collapsed and struck two rented houses on Jalan KH Hasyim, Pondok Cabe, RT 06 RW 01, Kembangan Utara, Kembangan, West Jakarta, on Saturday morning. “A telecom pole fell during installation and struck two rental units; there is one victim with minor injuries to the back of the ear, who has received treatment,” said Kembangan Sub-District Head Joko Suparno when confirmed in Jakarta on Saturday (11/4). He stated that material losses from the incident are still being calculated, as access to the struck houses remains risky. “For the victims and property, it’s still under calculation because access to enter the house is still concerning,” Joko revealed. The incident was reported to have occurred when several people were installing a provider tower approximately four metres high, but the iron pole fell and struck the rentals, injuring one person slightly. Joko mentioned that work activities have been stopped for further investigation. “Victims should promptly receive suitable accommodation and fair compensation,” Joko said. His side has already inspected the incident site and provided assistance to the affected residents. “Providing assistance to residents whose houses collapsed due to being struck by a tower pole under installation in RT 06 RW 01,” Joko added.
