Police Investigate PLN, ASABRI, KS Cases: Presidential Attention Reveals Alleged Corruption
Police have conducted searches at a café and a money changer in South Jakarta as part of an investigation into alleged corruption at state electricity firm PLN, insurer ASABRI, and steelmaker Krakatau Steel. Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police spokesperson Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto stressed that the investigation has the attention of President Prabowo Subianto.
“This is the President’s attention, that allegations of corruption cases are a concern for the police to carry out disclosure and investigation processes. This series of searches is part of the investigation process to find and collect evidence,” Budi said after the search at Cafe de’Clan, Cipete, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (8/7/2026).
Budi said the search was also part of uncovering alleged corruption in coal procurement at PLN that triggered blackouts in Sumatra some time ago. The corruption cases being investigated include bribery, gratification, and money laundering.
“The Corruption Eradication Task Force together with the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police are investigating alleged corruption cases including bribery, gratification, and money laundering. There are several locations currently being searched simultaneously, including this location at Cafe de’Clan and Coin Money Changer. This is related to the alleged corruption in the PLN coal blackout, ASABRI, and Krakatau Steel,” he said.
Based on observations, police personnel arrived at Cafe de’Clan at 13.25 Western Indonesia Time. Information from police at the scene indicated that a search was underway. Subsequently, Deputy Chief of Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police Brigadier General Dekananto Eko Purwono and several personnel from the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate also visited the location at 14.05 Western Indonesia Time.
