Police Investigate Network Supplying Thousands of Illegal Pills in Tangerang

Tangerang Metro Police are investigating the network supplying thousands of prescription pills suspected of being distributed illegally, following the arrest of a suspect. Police Chief Kombes Pol. Raden Muhammad Jauhari stated on Sunday that investigators are still tracing the origin of the drugs, their distribution channels, and the possible involvement of other perpetrators. He urged the public not to purchase or consume prescription medication without a prescription and supervision from healthcare professionals, as it can endanger health and potentially trigger criminal acts, including brawls involving teenagers. The police chief also requested that the public immediately report to the police or via the 110 call centre if they are aware of the sale of tramadol, heximer, or other prescription drugs without a licence. During the operation, police seized 2,650 tramadol pills, 2,000 heximer pills, a mobile phone, a Honda Beat motorcycle, and several clear plastic clips suspected of being used to package the drugs before distribution. Neglasari Police Chief AKP Imron Mas’adi said the case came to light following a tip-off from the public about a planned illegal drug transaction. “From the information we received, there was going to be a transaction for prescription drugs using a cash-on-delivery system. The team immediately conducted an investigation and tailed the target until they finally managed to apprehend the perpetrator in the Buaran Mangga Village area, Pakuhaji District,” he said. Upon searching the perpetrator and the motorcycle used, officers found thousands of prescription pills stored inside the vehicle’s seat compartment. The suspect, identified as UA, is charged under Law Number 17 of 2023 on Health in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2026 on Criminal Adjustments for allegedly distributing pharmaceutical preparations that do not meet regulations and conducting pharmaceutical practices without authority.
