Police are continuing to investigate all possibilities surrounding the death of Ermanto Usman (65), a retired employee of Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT), in Jatibening, Pondok Gede, Bekasi, West Java. This includes examining allegations of premeditated murder.

“We are continuing to investigate, and all information is needed urgently to assist the investigation,” said Metro Jaya Police Public Relations Chief Kombes Budi Hermanto to journalists on Monday (9 March).

Separately, Bekasi Metro Police Public Relations Officer AKP Suparyono stated that the joint team continues its investigation. He explained that the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Bureau (Bareskrim Polri) has also joined efforts to uncover the case.

“A joint team from Bareskrim, Metro Police, and Bekasi Metro Police, along with Pondok Gede Police Station, continues the investigation,” he said.

Previously, Ermanto Usman and his wife were allegedly attacked by robbers at their home in Jatibening, Pondok Gede, Bekasi, West Java on Monday (2 March). During the incident, Ermanto died whilst his wife sustained injuries and continues to receive medical treatment at a hospital.

The incident was only discovered by their son just before dawn prayers. The son became suspicious because his parents had not woken him for pre-dawn meal until 4:00 AM.

“When he woke up he was shocked—it was almost time for the dawn prayer—so he went downstairs. When he went down he saw there was no response, the lights were still off,” said Bekasi Metro Police Criminal Investigation Chief Kompol Andi Muhammad Iqbal to journalists on Monday (2 March).

Andi said the son could still hear his mother’s voice initially. However, when he approached, the door handle was already damaged and could not be opened.

To summarise, the father was found dead, covered in blood. The mother suffered serious injuries and immediately received medical treatment at a hospital.

From preliminary investigations, several items were reported missing from the incident, including a gold bracelet on the victim’s wrist and two car keys.

Ermanto was the Chairman of the JICT Employees’ Pension Association. Pelindo is the principal shareholder in JICT. He was also known as a port observer.

In recent times, he was known as one of the figures who exposed alleged corruption related to port management. He had brought these corruption allegations to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
