Police Investigate Motive Behind Ermanto Usman's Murder in Bekasi
Metro Jaya Police’s Detective Squad (Jatanras) has arrested the suspect in the murder of Ermanto Usman (65) at his home in Jatibening, Bekasi City, West Java. Police are still investigating the motive behind the murder.
“We are still examining the motive,” said Metro Jaya Police Criminal Investigation Director (Dirreskrimum) Brigadier General Iman Imanuddin to journalists on Tuesday (10 March 2026).
The suspect, identified as Sudirman alias Yuda, was arrested at 18:54 on Monday (9 March) in Cilincing, North Jakarta. The suspect killed Ermanto using a crowbar.
“Based on initial interrogation, the suspect struck the victim with a crowbar,” said Brigadier General Iman.
The suspect discarded the crowbar in front of the victim’s house as evidence. The suspect is currently being questioned at Metro Jaya Police headquarters.
Earlier, Bekasi Metro Police Criminal Investigation Head (Kasat Reskrim Polres Metro Bekasi Kota) Senior Commissioner Andi Muhammad Iqbal stated that several items belonging to the victim went missing during the incident. The victim’s missing belongings include jewellery and car keys.
“The items that went missing, according to the victim’s child, were a gold bracelet on the victim’s wrist and two car keys. We are still documenting the rest,” said Andi on Monday (2 March 2026).
When discovered, Ermanto had already died. His wife sustained injuries and is currently undergoing medical treatment at hospital.
“The father (Ermanto) died on the spot. The mother is still in surgery and is currently in critical condition,” he explained.
