JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — Police are still investigating how the funds paid by dozens of clients to wedding organiser (WO) Marwah, identified as ER and RMS, were used. East Jakarta Metropolitan Police spokesperson Aipda I Gusti MP said authorities are currently questioning the couple to trace the money. ‘Regarding the use of the victims’ funds, the investigation is ongoing through questioning of both suspects,’ Gusti told KOMPAS.com via WhatsApp on Sunday (31 May 2026). Gusti added that this is part of the ongoing investigation by the detective team. ER and RMS are known to have received full payments from dozens of prospective brides and grooms. However, after receiving the payments, they reneged, causing clients to suffer losses of up to Rp2.6 billion. This prompted clients to report the case to East Jakarta Metropolitan Police. Following the report, police conducted an investigation and search for the two suspects. ‘The suspects were not at their usual addresses and had moved locations repeatedly,’ he said. Police eventually arrested the couple on Saturday (30 May 2026) at a rented house in Batulayang Village, Cililin District, West Bandung Regency, West Java. ER and RMS have been named suspects and charged with alleged fraud under Article 492 and embezzlement under Article 486 of the Indonesian Criminal Code.
