Police Investigate Mental Health of Suspect Who Stabbed Dental Clinic Nurse in Tangerang
Police have conducted a crime scene investigation, interviewed witnesses, and are currently examining the perpetrator’s mental state, announced Jatiuwung Police Chief, Commissioner Robiin, on Tuesday (2/6/2026).
Witnesses interrogated include the suspect’s family members, who stated that MA has a history of schizophrenia and is currently undergoing outpatient care. Police are awaiting the results of a psychological examination to confirm MA’s mental condition and are investigating the motive behind the repeated stabbings of the victim, identified by the initials VS.
The brutal stabbing occurred at a dental clinic on Jalan Raya Regency, Gembor, Periuk, Tangerang City, on Saturday (30/5) at approximately 16:00 WIB. Police have seized the weapon used in the attack, a knife.
“The perpetrator and the evidence have been secured for further investigation,” said Commissioner Robiin. Officers from the Jatiuwung Police Station have processed the crime scene and interviewed relevant witnesses.
The incident took place after MA had undergone a dental scaling procedure. MA then requested permission to use the toilet and was escorted by the clinic nurse. During the escort, the suspect suddenly stabbed the victim, VS, several times.
The victim sustained multiple wounds to the arms and abdomen and was subsequently transported to the Tangerang Regency Regional Hospital (RSUD) for medical treatment. Police are currently awaiting the victim’s forensic medical report (visum et repertum) and the results of the suspect’s psychiatric evaluation.
