Police Investigate Irregularities in Sutrimo's Death, Missing Belongings Under Scrutiny

The Jakarta Metropolitan Police are investigating a number of irregularities in the death of a man named Sutrimo, following a report from his family. Director of General Criminal Investigation, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, stated that the investigation will focus on the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body and the missing personal effects. “The family reported that the deceased’s belongings have not been returned to the relative, which adds to the list of irregularities,” Iman told reporters on Thursday.

The case has been upgraded to a criminal investigation after preliminary findings suggested a criminal act may have occurred. Police are currently examining eight witnesses and are looking into possible charges of murder or premeditated murder. Iman assured the public that the investigation would be conducted transparently and accountably, promising to disclose the results of the forensic examination openly.

As part of the probe, the police conducted an exhumation of Sutrimo’s body in Wangon, Banyumas, Central Java, on Wednesday to gather medical and scientific evidence. The procedure was a collaborative effort between the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, the Central Java Police, and the Banyumas Police.

Meanwhile, former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, has denied allegations that Sutrimo was his household manager. Febrie’s legal representative, Firman Wijaya, clarified that Sutrimo was employed as a caretaker for an empty house and often returned to his hometown or took on other jobs.
