Police Investigate Discovery of Baby's Body in Cardboard Box in Bogor, Four Witnesses Questioned
Police are investigating the discovery of a baby’s body found in a cardboard box on the side of a road in North Bogor, Bogor City. Four witnesses have been questioned by the Women and Children Protection (PPA) unit.
“For now, there are four witnesses; developments are pending updates from the PPA unit,” said Bogor City Police Public Relations Head, Ipda Imam, on Wednesday (23/7/2026).
Imam stated that the four witnesses being questioned include the house tenant, identified by the initials SU, SU’s stepchild SA, and SA’s husband IS. In addition, police are taking a statement from a woman with the initials DR, a friend of SA who had been staying at the residence for a week.
Based on the examination, Imam revealed that the cardboard box containing the baby’s body was moved from inside the house by witness SU while helping her child move out of the rented property. The witness told police that the door to the rented house was never locked.
“According to SU’s statement, the black bag was already inside the cardboard box that was taken from the bedroom. SU also stated that the door to the rented house was never locked,” Imam said.
Separately, North Bogor Police Chief, Kompol Enjo Sutarjo, said that DR is a woman from Semarang who became acquainted with SA through social media. DR had been staying at SA’s residence for about a week, claiming she wanted to look for work in Bogor.
“So, SA was visited by a female friend she met on TikTok. Her name is DR from Ambarawa, Semarang. She had been staying at SA’s house for over a week. SA was still living with her parents at the time. That night, she was planning to move with her husband to rent a place in Tanahsareal,” Enjo said when contacted separately.
“She (DR) claimed she wanted to look for work. Whether she was pregnant or not is still under examination. Last night she was taken to the Bogor City Police and examined at the PPA unit; all witnesses are being examined there,” he added.
The body of the baby girl was found in a cardboard box on the roadside in Cipayung Village, Bogor City, on Wednesday (22/7) evening. The box had been moved from inside the rented house to the roadside when the tenants were preparing to move out.
