Police Investigate Death of Medical Resident Doctor Found in Bushes Near Siak Hospital
The Siak Resort Police are intensifying their investigation into the death of Dr. Alex Cristo Loris, a resident doctor in the Specialist Doctor Education Programme at the University of Riau’s Faculty of Medicine. His body was found in undergrowth behind the Tengku Rafian Regional General Hospital.
Head of the Siak Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Raja Kosmos, stated on Thursday evening that the investigation team has completed processing the crime scene. The victim’s body has been sent for autopsy, and a number of pieces of evidence found at the location have been secured for forensic laboratory examination.
Investigators have also obtained and secured CCTV recordings documenting the victim’s route from the moment he left the hospital until he reached the location where his body was discovered. Evidence collection has been expanded to include the examination of several key witnesses, comprising hospital security personnel and staff, two supervising doctors from the anaesthesiology residency programme, and a fellow resident doctor.
Furthermore, the police have contacted two of the victim’s colleagues in Maluku, a midwife and a doctor, who have provided statements regarding information they received. The investigation has also been widened to include staff and academic personnel at the University of Riau’s Faculty of Medicine.
Raja Kosmos added that the victim’s mobile phone has been manually examined by investigators with the assistance of the victim’s wife, and the process has been documented in an official report. However, as some items and applications on the device could not be accessed, the phone has been sent to the forensic laboratory for further analysis. While awaiting the results of the autopsy, histopathology, and toxicology tests, the Criminal Investigation Unit has deemed it necessary to seek the assistance of a forensic psychology expert from the Faculty of Psychology at the Islamic University of Riau.
