The Timor Tengah Utara (TTU) Police are investigating criminal elements related to the death of Dr Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenoni, known as Dr Icha. She is suspected to have taken her own life after allegedly being intimidated by a member of the local legislative council (DPRD). TTU Police Chief AKBP Eliana Papote stated that her office has coordinated with the TTU DPRD Chairperson regarding a complaint filed by Dr Icha’s family with the DPRD’s Ethics Council, as well as with the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) of TTU Regency. “We are coordinating with criminal law experts and psychologists to assess whether the alleged intimidation meets the elements of a criminal offence or not,” she said. According to her, witness statements and facts can reveal the circumstances surrounding Dr Icha’s death on 13 June 2026. “Everything is being conducted based on facts and applicable legal provisions,” the Police Chief explained. In addition, police have summoned witnesses regarding the alleged intimidation by a TTU DPRD member against Dr Icha. These include colleagues who were on duty with the victim during a shift at the Emergency Department on the day of the incident to complete the investigation process. “The results of the witness examinations will be reported once the entire series of investigations is complete,” Eliana stated. Investigators are also coordinating with Leona Hospital to obtain medical records concerning Dr Icha’s physical and mental health condition during her treatment following the incident.
