Police Investigate Case of Untirta Student Recording Lecturer in Campus Toilet

Police are investigating a case at Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa where a student with the initials MZ was caught recording a female lecturer in a campus toilet. This alleged sexual violence case has been reported and is under investigation by the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of the Banten Regional Police. “The incident occurred on Wednesday, 1 April 2026, with the suspect MZ, and the report was received on Friday, 2 April 2026,” stated the Head of Public Relations of the Banten Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Maruli Ahiles Hutapea, in a written statement on Sunday (5/4). MZ has been reported under Article 14 paragraph (1) letter a of Law No. 12 of 2022 on Sexual Violence Crimes (UU TPKS). “Currently, investigators from Subdirectorate IV of Ditreskrimum Banten Regional Police have taken initial steps by examining the reporter with initials LK to delve into the chronology of the incident,” Maruli continued. Police have seized several pieces of evidence allegedly related to the crime, including 1 sheet of visum receipt, 1 Samsung brand mobile phone belonging to MZ; 1 flash drive containing a video recording of the victim in the bathroom; and 1 hijab, 1 shirt, and 1 pair of trousers. Maruli advised the public to remain vigilant and maintain security, especially in public facilities. He hopes that the public will promptly report any knowledge or experience of crimes to the police via the 110 Call Centre.
