Police Investigate Case of Gresik Woman Entering Work in ASN Uniform After Falling Victim to Scam

A woman is suspected of becoming a victim of a scam using the modus operandi of civil servant (PNS) recruitment within the Gresik Regency Government (Pemkab). The case is currently being investigated by the police. “We have coordinated with the Gresik Regency regional government regarding the alleged scam with the PNS recruitment modus operandi,” said Gresik Police Chief AKBP Ramadhan Nasution, as reported by detikJatim on Thursday (9/4/2026). The police have also obtained several data points for further examination. However, they have not yet been able to disclose the details of the investigation results. “We have obtained some data and are conducting further investigations,” said AKBP Ramadhan. Ramadhan emphasised that members of the public who feel they have become victims are urged to report immediately so the case can be followed up promptly. “If there are indeed members of the public who have become victims in the same case, please come to the Gresik Police Station or report through the ‘Lapor Pak Kapolres Cak Rama’ channel,” he stressed. Previously, the case came to light after a woman with initials SE arrived at the Protocol and Leadership Communication Section (Prokopim) of the Gresik Regional Secretariat on Monday (6/4/2026) at around 08:15 WIB. She was wearing an ASN uniform and claimed to be starting work, carrying a 2024 PNS appointment decree (SK). It was later discovered that the SK was fake.
