Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Metro Jaya Regional Police are continuing an inquiry into the case of assault against a Domestic Worker (ART) by the homeowner in Sunter Agung, Tanjung Priok District, North Jakarta.

Public Relations Head of the Metro Jaya Police, Senior Commissioner of Police Budi Hermanto, said the case was reported on Monday (2/3) and is being handled by the Satres Protection of Women and Children and the Eradication of Human Trafficking Unit (Satres PPA dan PPO) of the North Jakarta Metropolitan Police.

‘This matter is still in the investigative stage and will be handled professionally, transparently, and in accordance with the law,’ he said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.

In addition, Budi also ensured that the protection and recovery of the victim remains a priority.

‘Investigators have facilitated the victim to access P3A services for psychological rehabilitation and have facilitated a forensic medical examination (Visum/VER) at RSUD Tanjung Priok,’ he said.

The North Jakarta Metropolitan Police said that the video of the assault against a Domestic Worker by the homeowner in Sunter Agung, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, circulating on social media, occurred in 2023.

She noted that the victim was a woman identified by the initials S, aged 57, who worked at the home of the suspect identified as HW (42).

At the time, the suspect HW was cleaning a place of worship at his home. However, the victim accidentally defiled the place of worship and there was a miscommunication between the suspect and the victim.

‘Then the suspect beat and kicked the victim’s back,’ Sri said.
