Police investigate assault on an Undip Semarang student by fellow students
Police in Semarang are investigating an alleged assault on a Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) student in Semarang, identified as A (20), who was reportedly beaten by dozens of his fellow students. The head of the Semarang City Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit (Reskrim), AKBP Andika Dharma Sena, said on Thursday that the incident, which occurred on 15 November 2025, was reported the following day. He added that the case had entered the investigative phase, with the handling of the matter proceeding in accordance with procedures. ‘The case has entered investigative detention,’ he said. In the case, around 20 individuals were named in the victim’s report. Nevertheless, investigators are still examining each reported individual’s role. He also noted that several witnesses have been questioned, including members of the victim’s family and fellow students who were at the scene at the time. Andika also invited any victims of sexual harassment allegedly committed by A to report to the police. A reported to the police after previously being the victim of an assault by dozens of students who were his peers on 15 November 2025. A said he was accused and forced to admit the alleged harassment of a junior at a boarding house in the Tembalang area of Semarang. As a result of the assault, the victim suffered a broken nose, a concussion, and damage to the left optic nerve.
