Jakarta — Duren Sawit police precinct visited the location of an armed attempted motorcycle theft on Jalan Pendidikan, IKIP Complex, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, on Sunday, 22 February, in the early morning hours.

The precinct commander, Senior Commissioner Sutikno, stated that despite the victim, Muhammad Isan Alfalah, not filing a formal report, police proceeded to visit the scene and conduct a thorough investigation.

“We have already conducted an inspection and are naturally investigating this case to the fullest extent,” said Sutikno in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The case went viral on Instagram social media after the suspects allegedly threatened to shoot complex security personnel. Sutikno mentioned that two witnesses had already provided statements to his officers at the scene of the incident.

He stated he would enhance security in the area by conducting joint patrols with elements of the Duren Sawit Three Pillars initiative. Sutikno urged residents to install double locks on their vehicles to prevent becoming targets of theft.

Earlier, two motorcycle theft suspects failed in their attempt on Jalan Pendidikan, IKIP Complex, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, on Sunday, 22 February, in the early morning hours. During the failed crime, they reportedly pointed a firearm at complex security personnel.

The motorcycle owner, Muhammad Isan Alfalah, recounted that the incident occurred after he was eating sahur and preparing to return to sleep at approximately 05:30 Western Indonesia Time. “I was about to sleep when my wife woke me saying there were thieves and my motorcycle had fallen. I asked the security guard where the thieves fled,” said Isan in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, on Monday, 23 February.

He noted that complex security personnel were threatened with shooting when the suspects brandished the firearm. Fortunately, said Isan, none of the security officers were shot and his motorcycle remained safe from the theft attempt.

“Thank God, everyone is safe and my motorcycle is also safe. I was not threatened, only the security personnel received the threat to be shot,” Isan explained.
