Police Investigate Alternative Motive in Bogor Toll Murder Case
Bogor City Police Department is investigating an alternative motive behind the murder committed by M Febryan (26) against a woman identified only as AA, whose body was thrown from the Bogor Outer Ring Road (BORR) toll bridge onto Sholeh Iskandar Road (Sholis) in Bogor City.
During initial questioning, the suspect claimed he acted out of resentment after hearing the victim say, “Pity you don’t have parents.”
“His statement remains the same so far. We have not yet found other evidence or clues. His confession so far includes revenge and a desire to seize the victim’s assets,” said Head of Criminal Investigations for Bogor City Police Department, AKP Bagus Azi Lesmana, as quoted by detik.com on Thursday (28/5).
“We are still investigating; we will update if there are developments while continuing to check other witnesses,” he added.
The body of the woman identified as AA was discovered on Sholeh Iskandar Road, Tanah Sareal District, Bogor City, at around 01:15 WIB on Saturday (23/5).
Following an investigation, police arrested the suspect, M Febryan (MF), also known as Ambon (26). During questioning, it was revealed that the suspect killed the victim inside her own car.
“The execution took place inside the car, in the Pakansari area near Pakansari Stadium. The victim was strangled with a tie brought by the suspect,” said Bogor City Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Rio Wahyu Anggoro, during a press conference on Monday (25/5).
The suspect had prepared a tie and a golok (a traditional Indonesian machete) to kill the victim. He then threw the weakened victim from the BORR toll bridge onto Sholeh Iskandar Road in Bogor City.
Rio stated the suspect had driven around with the unconscious victim in the car. Upon entering the BORR toll bridge, the perpetrator threw the victim, causing her to fall onto Sholeh Iskandar Road.
“After being strangled and losing consciousness, the victim was driven around while unconscious. When entering the Yasmin or Sholeh Iskandar area, according to the suspect, the victim moved,” Rio said.
The moment the victim’s body fell from the BORR toll bridge was captured on CCTV and went viral on social media. Following this, Febryan fled with the victim’s car.
“The incident as shown in the video, where the victim was thrown from the toll bridge down below. To us, this is an extremely barbaric act. After falling down, the victim’s car was taken towards Garut,” he added.
The suspect faces charges under Articles 459, 458(1), 479(3) of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP), and Article 466(3) in conjunction with Article 2(1) of the Emergency Law.
