Kelapa Gading police have moved swiftly to investigate a case of alleged false imprisonment at the Dariza Jaya Hotel in the Pegangsaan Dua sub-district, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta. The incident came to light after police received a public complaint on Wednesday evening (3/6).

“We acted quickly to follow up on a public report received through the Polri 110 Call Centre service regarding the alleged confinement,” said the Criminal Investigation Unit Head of Kelapa Gading Police, AK Kiki Tanlim, in Jakarta on Thursday (4/6).

The case originated from a report filed by a woman with the initial A. She complained to the police that her boyfriend, with the initial FAP, was being detained by the management of the debt collection company where he worked. The detention was carried out because FAP was considered not to have settled his financial obligations to the company.

Acting on the emergency information, the duty function of the Kelapa Gading Police, led by the Supervisory Officer, immediately went to the scene. While inspecting the hotel room in question, officers found three men: FAP, DBA, and SA.

Based on the initial investigation, FAP admitted to having been in the hotel for approximately three days. During that time, he was strictly guarded by his two colleagues on the orders of their company’s management. “This action was related to the alleged misuse of company funds totaling approximately Rp150 million,” said Kiki.

On the other hand, DBA and SA confirmed that they were assigned by the company to supervise FAP. The step was claimed to be for the purpose of investigating statements from all parties and ensuring whether or not there were any internal criminal elements.

“The three were then taken to the Kelapa Gading Police station for further questioning,” added Kiki.

The police also noted that the issue of the alleged misuse of company funds worth Rp150 million had actually already been reported by the management to the Cakung Police, under the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police.

“The police are currently still carrying out an investigation to determine the facts and the legal status of the incident reported through the 110 Call Centre service,” said Kiki.
