Police Investigate Alleged Chicken Theft That Led to Fatal Mob Attack in Tabanan
The police are investigating a case of alleged chicken theft that led to a man being beaten to death by a mob in Banjar Juwuk Legi, Batunya Village, Baturiti District, Tabanan Regency, Bali. Authorities are looking into two aspects of the case simultaneously: the alleged theft and the fatal mob attack on the man, identified by the initials KD.
“Investigators are currently examining two main aspects of the case, namely the alleged criminal act of chicken theft and the mob action that occurred afterwards,” explained Baturiti Police Chief Kompol I Nyoman Darsana on Sunday (26/7/2026).
Darsana stressed that the police would uncover the entire sequence of events based on facts and valid evidence. He said investigators are working professionally, objectively, and transparently.
The Baturiti Police have also urged the public to remain calm and not to take the law into their own hands if they encounter or witness a suspected criminal act. “The public is expected to immediately report any incident to the police so that it can be handled according to legal mechanisms, thereby maintaining public security and order,” Darsana emphasised.
At present, police are still questioning a number of witnesses in connection with the case. No parties have been detained or named as suspects in the incident.
