Police Investigate After Viral Video Shows Female Jogger Spat on by Motorcyclist in Bali

Social media has been abuzz with a video of an unpleasant incident that befell a woman on Jalan Raya Seseh, Munggu Village, Mengwi District, Badung Regency, Bali. The police have moved to investigate the matter.

The incident occurred on Friday (31 July 2026) at around 19.30 Wita, when a woman was out running. A video of her account of the unpleasant treatment by a motorcyclist recently went viral on social media.

According to circulating information, the victim was approached by a man riding a motorcycle. Without any clear reason, the rider spat at the woman — believed to be a foreign tourist — before fleeing.

The video subsequently went viral on social media, sparking outrage among netizens. In response to public concern, Mengwi Police immediately deployed personnel to the scene.

Mengwi Police Chief Commissioner Anak Agung Gede Rai Darmayasa affirmed that his side had taken steps to investigate the alleged offence. Police are also monitoring social media and tracing the identities of both the victim and the perpetrator.

“We have deployed National Vital Object Protection (UKL) personnel directly to the location to sweep along Jalan Raya Seseh. We have gathered evidentiary material,” said Commissioner Anak Agung Gede Rai Darmayasa when contacted on Monday (3 August 2026).

“We are currently profiling the identity of the victim and the suspected perpetrator riding the motorcycle. We continue to monitor developments on social media. We urge the public to remain calm and leave the handling of this case to the police,” he stressed.

Beyond sweeping the crime scene and hunting for the perpetrator’s identity, the Mengwi Police cyber team is also intensifying monitoring of information flows and public comments on social media. The measure is intended to sift out new facts that could serve as initial leads to expedite the resolution of the case.

The police have called on residents, particularly those who regularly exercise at night in the Seseh area, to remain vigilant and to promptly report any form of harassment to the police station.
