Police Intensively Question Three Individuals Over Tambak Menteng Clash

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Central Jakarta Metro Police are intensively questioning three people with the initials S, T and U who were secured in connection with a clash on Jalan Tambak, Menteng, Central Jakarta, in order to uncover the cause and chronology of the incident.

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Senior Commissioner Reynold EP Hutagalung said the three individuals are currently being questioned at the Menteng Police Station.

“We have secured three residents suspected of involvement, namely S, T and U, who are currently being held at the Menteng Police Station. Intensive questioning is being carried out to determine the origins of the incident,” said Reynold in Jakarta on Sunday.

In addition to questioning the three individuals, investigators are also looking into the possible involvement of other parties suspected of triggering the clash.

He noted that, overall, police have secured around 15 people for intensive questioning.

They are being questioned in groups based on the series of events that occurred in the Matraman and Jalan Tambak areas.

“For the incident as a whole, we are carrying out intensive questioning of approximately 15 people. However, we differentiate the clustering according to the separate incidents,” he said.

The police chief added that investigators are also questioning victims and witnesses, including probing alleged damage to carts belonging to micro, small and medium enterprise (UMKM) traders as well as alleged assaults on residents that took place during the clash.

The investigation is still ongoing to fully uncover the cause of the clash and the role of each party involved, in accordance with the evidence gathered.

“Whether they are victims or those suspected as perpetrators, they must certainly be held accountable for their actions,” said Reynold.
