Police Intensively Question Three Individuals Over Tambak Menteng Clash
The Central Jakarta Metro Police are intensively questioning three individuals in connection with a clash on Jalan Tambak, Menteng, Central Jakarta, to uncover the cause and chronology of the incident. Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Reynold EP Hutagalung, stated that the three individuals are currently undergoing examination at the Menteng Sector Police station. “We have secured three residents suspected of involvement, namely Mr S, Mr T, and Mr U, who are now detained at the Menteng Sector Police. Intensive examinations are being conducted to determine the origins of the incident,” Reynold said in Jakarta on Sunday. In addition to questioning the three individuals, investigators are also probing the suspected involvement of other parties believed to have triggered the clash. He noted that, overall, police have secured around 15 people for intensive examination. They are being questioned in groups based on the sequence of events that occurred in the Matraman and Jalan Tambak areas. “For the overall incident, we have secured and are intensively examining approximately 15 people. However, we are differentiating them based on the clustering of events,” he said. The police chief added that investigators are also examining victims and witnesses, including investigating the alleged destruction of carts belonging to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and the alleged assault of residents during the clash. The investigation is ongoing to fully uncover the cause of the clash and the roles of each party involved, based on the evidence collected. “Whether victim or suspected perpetrator, they must of course be held accountable for their actions,” Reynold stated.
