Police intensity operation
JAKARTA (JP): City police will intensify a security operation, code-named Kilat Jaya, to secure the capital during the celebration of Indonesia's independence day on Aug. 17.
Head of the City Police for Operation and Command Center, Col. Muhantojo, told reporters yesterday that the operation will start next week.
"Basically, this is a routine operation but the police intends to intensify it as an effort to strengthen security in the city," he said, adding that the operation will crack down on people who disturb public order.
Muhantojo also said the upcoming operation will involve more judges and prosecutors because it will conduct on-the-spot trials for violators.
"I think it is more efficient to implement on-the-spot trials because it will not take long to prosecute violators in the street," he said. (yns)
