Police Indicate New Suspects Possible in Little Aresha Daycare Case After 13 Transferred to Prosecutors

The legal process concerning the alleged child abuse case at the Little Aresha daycare centre is confirmed to be ongoing, despite the transfer of 13 suspects to the Yogyakarta District Prosecutor’s Office. The Yogyakarta City Police have indicated the possibility of naming additional suspects as the investigation continues to develop.

Yogyakarta City Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, Commissioner Riski Adrian, stated that although the case files for the 13 suspects have been declared complete and have entered the transfer stage to the prosecutor’s office, investigators are still looking into the involvement of other parties. “Based on the instructions and the results of the previous case review, there will be additional suspects,” Adrian said after the phase two handover at the Yogyakarta District Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday (24/6/2026).

Adrian noted that the second phase of the investigation lasted approximately 60 days. During this process, police examined 154 witnesses and involved three experts from the fields of education, medicine, and criminal law to strengthen the evidence. “For the case file, there were 154 witnesses and we also used three experts in education, medicine, and criminal law,” he stated.

Currently, in addition to the 13 suspects who have been transferred to the prosecutor’s office, there are still 17 individuals with the status of witnesses who are required to report. This situation opens up the possibility of further case development if new evidence is found. “Not yet, but it is still developing,” Adrian said.
