Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Traffic Directorate of Metro Jaya Police carried out traffic diversions by closing several protocol roads in connection with the visit of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to Indonesia on Friday.

The Director of Traffic for Metro Jaya Police, Senior Commissioner Pol Komarudin, in his statement on Friday, explained that the closures were temporary.

“Similar to other VIP security measures, the closures will only occur when the official entourage is passing through,” said Komarudin.

He mentioned that traffic diversions on several protocol roads would begin at 3:30 PM Western Indonesia Time, specifically:

  • Jalan Halim Perdanakusuma

  • Jalan MT Haryono

  • Jalan Gatot Subroto

  • Jalan Sudirman

  • Jalan MH Thamrin

  • Jalan Merdeka Barat

“Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim will make a special visit to Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia, on 27 March 2026, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto,” stated the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday (26/3).

Wisma Putra revealed that the visit will focus on recent geopolitical developments, particularly conflicts in West Asia, and their impact on regional stability and the global economy, including implications for Malaysia and Indonesia.

Furthermore, Wisma Putra assessed that these latest developments require comprehensive, careful, and coordinated discussions between the two countries to align positions and strengthen strategic cooperation in responding to the situation.

In that context, the meeting between the two leaders is expected to intensify diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and ensure the continuity of crucial global trade routes and supply chains for the welfare of the people of both nations.

The meeting will also affirm the importance of strengthening ASEAN’s role as a united and principled bloc, so that the region can act collectively in maintaining peace, preserving regional stability, and protecting economic resilience amid global uncertainties.
