Police Identify Suspects in Terror Attack on KontraS Activist, Suspected More Than Four Perpetrators!
A dark veil over the terror case targeting Andrie Yunus, an activist from the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), is beginning to lift. The Metro Jaya Regional Police have officially announced that they have obtained the identities of two main suspected perpetrators in the dangerous liquid splashing incident.
Director of General Criminal Investigation at Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, revealed that this identification resulted from in-depth analysis of surveillance camera (CCTV) recordings and statements from 15 witnesses who have been intensively examined.
“Based on police data, we have identified two suspected perpetrators. The first with initials BHC, and the second with initials MAK,” Iman stated firmly during a press conference at the Ditreskrimum Building of Metro Jaya Regional Police on Wednesday (18/3).
Although only two identities have been released to the public, the police detect the involvement of other parties in the midnight attack. Iman mentioned that the attack pattern indicates a greater number of perpetrators than initially estimated.
“Our investigation results show a high likelihood that the perpetrators number more than four people. This aligns with the initial information we have delved into in the field,” he added.
Investigators are currently synchronising witness statements, physical evidence found at the crime scene (TKP), including a helmet believed to belong to a perpetrator, and CCTV recordings along the escape route taken by the perpetrators.
In response to the sensitivity of this case, Metro Jaya Regional Police have assured that the digital evidence they possess is fully authentic. Iman emphasised that there is no manipulation in the process of processing the faces of the perpetrators captured on camera.
“We affirm that this recording is original without any changes or digital processing. We can be held accountable that this is not the result of Artificial Intelligence (AI),” Iman stated candidly.
As a step to accelerate the arrests, the National Police have opened a complaint channel through Hotline 110. The public who recognise the faces or characteristics of the perpetrators that have been released are urged to report immediately to strengthen the investigation evidence.
The case began when Andrie Yunus became a victim of an acid attack by unknown individuals on Thursday (12/3) around 23:00 WIB. To date, Andrie is still struggling to recover at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital with burns reaching 24 percent due to the chemical liquid.
