Police Identify Perpetrators of Molotov Cocktail Attack in North Jakarta
Jakarta - Police have identified the group responsible for a Molotov cocktail attack in the Koja area of North Jakarta. Koja Police Chief Kompol Andry Suharto stated on Tuesday that the main perpetrator, identified by the initial M, along with his associates, have been detected and are currently being pursued by officers. “All perpetrators have been detected, but not yet arrested. The person who threw the device was one individual (M), but when he arrived at the location, he was with his friends, around three people,” Andry said. Regarding the motive for the Molotov cocktail attack, he explained that the incident stemmed from a romantic dispute between perpetrator M and his ex-wife, identified as R. “The perpetrator was allegedly jealous because his ex-wife is now in a relationship with another man, identified as U,” Andry stated. However, M’s anger was directed at U’s family, specifically his uncle, identified as K, despite K having no knowledge or involvement in his nephew’s romantic affairs. “During the incident, M approached K’s residence while shouting from a distance and immediately threw a Molotov cocktail towards K, who was sitting and using his mobile phone,” Andry detailed. “It was not a misdirected throw. The perpetrator intended to throw it at K, but missed. When the Molotov cocktail fell onto the road, a woman happened to be passing by on a motorcycle and fell due to shock,” Andry clarified. He also confirmed there were no fatalities or burn injuries in the incident. The woman’s vehicle reportedly sustained only minor damage from the fall, not from the direct impact of the Molotov cocktail. Police are continuing to investigate the incident involving the throwing of a suspected Molotov cocktail by a group of unknown individuals at a woman riding a motorcycle in the Rawa Badak Selatan area, North Jakarta. “Based on the initial report, it is confirmed that an incident involving the throwing of a suspected Molotov cocktail occurred on Monday (22/6) at around 09.00 WIB,” said Polda Metro Jaya Public Relations Head Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto on Tuesday. He explained the incident took place on Jalan Mandiri II, Rawa Badak Selatan Village, Koja District, North Jakarta.
