Police Hunt Two More Suspects in Debt Collector Stabbing of Lawyer in Tangerang
Police have identified three suspects linked to the debt collector, or ‘mata elang’ (matel), who stabbed lawyer Bastian Sori in Kelapa Dua, Tangerang. The other two suspects are still being sought.
“We have identified one of the stabbing suspects, and the other two are still being searched for,” said the Chief of the South Tangerang Metro Police, AKBP Boy Jumalolo, on Wednesday (25/2/2026).
Separately, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Tangerang Metro Police, AKP Wira, said that the investigation is being carried out by the police. The investigation is being conducted jointly to find the perpetrators.
“We are still investigating the perpetrators. Please pray that the investigation by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Tangerang Metro Police, the Kelapa Dua Police, and the back-up from the General Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police will soon yield results,” he said.
One Suspect Arrested
Previously, police arrested the debt collector, or ‘mata elang’ (matel), who stabbed lawyer Bastian Sori in Kelapa Dua, Tangerang. The suspect, with the initials JBI, was arrested last night in the Semarang area, Central Java.
“The Violent Crimes Sub-Directorate of the General Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police has secured the suspected perpetrator of the stabbing of a lawyer in the Kelapa Dua sub-district, South Tangerang. The suspected perpetrator, with the initials JBI, was secured on Thursday, February 24, 2026, at 11:50 PM in Semarang, Central Java,” said the Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Kombes Budi Hermanto.
Budi said the suspect was arrested on a bus. At that time, the suspect was on his way to escape after stabbing the victim.
“He was secured on the bus, while he was about to flee,” he said.
Currently, the suspect has been taken by investigators from the Violent Crimes Sub-Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police. Further examinations and investigations are being carried out to uncover the case thoroughly.
“Currently, the person is undergoing examination for further investigation,” he added.
