Police Hunt Two Foreign Nationals for Pharmacy Theft in Bali

The Badung Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) is hunting two foreign nationals (WNA) suspected of stealing money from Wedanta Farma Pharmacy in Kapal Village, Mengwi, Badung. Police have confirmed the identities of the two tourists and believe they are still in Bali.

“As a result of the investigation, we have obtained their identities. We are currently conducting an intensive investigation. So far, they are still in Bali,” said Badung Police Chief AKBP Joseph Edward Purba on Monday (6/7/2026).

According to Joseph, police are working to narrow down the suspects’ movements to prevent them from fleeing abroad. Officers are also reviewing CCTV footage from the crime scene. “We have coordinated with immigration. Please pray for us to solve this case,” Joseph added.

The nationalities of the two foreigners have not yet been disclosed. Police believe the theft was premeditated, with the suspects dividing roles during the crime. One suspect was tasked with distracting the pharmacy staff, while the other acted as the executor, emptying the cash drawer.

“The modus operandi was that one person diverted the attention of the pharmacy attendant, while the other took the money,” explained Badung Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Azarul Ahmad.

The theft at Wedanta Farma Pharmacy occurred on 28 June. The two suspects, believed to be a couple from the Middle East, stole cash from the register after pretending to buy nerve pain medication and asking to use the toilet.

Pharmacy employee Febi stated that the female suspect distracted her with compliments while the male suspect used the computer at the cashier’s desk. The pair made off with Rp 700,000 in cash from the drawer. The owner, Gede Pradnyana (30), only realised the money was missing when he was about to close the shop at around 10:00 p.m. local time and immediately reported the incident to the police.
