Police hunt suspected robbers

PEKANBARU, Riau: The district police of Tualang Perawang, Siak regency, Riau, are hunting down 10 people suspected of robbing over Rp 1 billion belonging to a company in Perawang.

Riau Police spokesman Adj. Sr. Comr. S. Pandiangan said here on Saturday the police were still tracking down the robbers, who robbed wood processing firm PT Surya Dumai Industri of Rp 1 billion in cash last Thursday.

Several youths and security men tried to seize the burglars as two of them fell from their motorcycles, but were stopped by gunfire, which injured one of the guards.

Tualang Perawang Police chief Agustamar said the district police were assisted by Bengkalis regency and Riau Police units in the manhunt. --Antara
