Police Hunt Perpetrators of Brutal Assault in Keparakan, Jogja

Police are still investigating a brutal assault on Jalan Ireda, Keparakan, Mergangsan, Yogyakarta City. To date, officers are still tracking down the perpetrators of the attack. “It is still under investigation. We do not yet know the identities of the perpetrators; the process is still ongoing,” said Acting Head of Public Relations for the Yogyakarta City Police, Second Inspector Dani Hasan, via text message on Saturday (11/7/2026). Regarding the victim, Dani admitted that the police had not yet received a report about the incident. “The victim has not yet reported it,” he stated. Previously, police disclosed the details of the brutal assault incident on Jalan Ireda, Keparakan, Mergangsan, Yogyakarta City, which went viral on social media. The chronology was obtained from preliminary investigations, as no report has been filed to date. Acting Head of Public Relations for the Yogyakarta City Police, Second Inspector Dani Hasan, explained that the alleged criminal act of assault occurred on Thursday (9/7) morning. The location of the incident was on Jalan Ireda Kidul, Keparakan, Mergangsan, precisely opposite Wisma Eyang Sosro. “The chronology of the incident: five people arrived on three automatic scooters from the north. The group of perpetrators then paired up with two people riding pillion on a scooter from the south,” Dani explained when contacted on Friday (10/7). “The group of suspected perpetrators then assaulted the motorcyclist by punching, kicking, and using a bamboo pole,” he detailed.
