Grogol Petamburan Police are still pursuing five additional suspects involved in a fatal assault case at the Westown entertainment venue in Grogol, West Jakarta. One of the most wanted fugitives is the main perpetrator who is suspected of deliberately pushing the victim, DM (29), from the second floor to his death.

The Head of Criminal Investigation for Grogol Petamburan, Police Commissioner Assistant Alexander Tengbunan, revealed that his team has identified a total of eight perpetrators in the bloody incident. However, only three individuals have been apprehended by officers to date.

‘The three perpetrators we have secured are those who assaulted and hit the victim. But they are not the one who pushed the victim off the second floor. We are currently searching for that main perpetrator,’ Alexander stated in Jakarta on Thursday (11/6).

Alexander issued a stern warning to the other five perpetrators to be cooperative and surrender immediately. He mentioned that one suspect had previously been handed over willingly by his family to investigators.

Based on the investigation, the tragic incident was triggered by a misunderstanding under the influence of alcohol. The victim and the perpetrators, who did not know each other, got into an argument inside the venue’s billiard area.

The altercation peaked as they headed towards the stairway to exit. At that location, the victim had a chokehold on one of the perpetrator’s associates. Seeing this, the other perpetrators retaliated by immediately ganging up on the victim.

Police have stressed that the victim did not simply fall. Based on witness examinations and the arrested suspects, the victim was deliberately thrown from the second floor. As a result of the incident, DM fell into a coma for four days at the hospital before ultimately being pronounced dead.

Authorities are now conducting an intensive manhunt for the suspects, whose identities they have already obtained, to hold them accountable before the law.
