Police Hunt Armed Robbers Who Drained Safe at Bekasi Service Station
A group of robbers drained the safe at a public fuel service station (SPBU) in Babelan District, Bekasi Regency, after restraining and threatening employees with a toy pistol. The perpetrators are currently being pursued by police.
“This is correct; we are currently conducting investigations and pursuing the perpetrators,” said Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto when contacted by reporters on Thursday (12 March 2026).
The incident occurred on Tuesday (10 March) at approximately 03:00 Western Indonesia Time. The perpetrators, estimated to number four individuals, entered the SPBU office through the rear entrance.
The perpetrators then threatened employees with a firearm, which was later found to be only a toy. The perpetrators fled after draining the contents of the safe.
“The perpetrators damaged the door, threatened the victim and witnesses with a weapon, then fled with the contents of the safe,” he said.
Police have conducted a crime scene investigation. The case is currently under investigation by Bekasi Metro Police and Babelan Police Station.
“A combined team from Bekasi Metro Police and Jakarta Metropolitan Police is investigating and pursuing the perpetrators,” he concluded.
