The Water and Air Police Directorate (Polairud) of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police assisted in evacuating residents trapped by flooding in the Kebon Pala area of East Jakarta. Officers helped residents who needed to get to work by using rubber boats.

“We are assisting in the evacuation of residents who need to get to work, as well as evacuating children and the elderly. The evacuation runs from the residential complex to the main road,” said Jakarta Metropolitan Police Polairud Director Commissioner Mustofa when contacted on Friday (20 February 2026).

Mustofa said residential areas in Kebon Pala had been submerged by floodwaters reaching 50 centimetres. Police also helped evacuate residents’ vehicles from their homes.

“SAR team members from the Polairud Directorate reported water levels of approximately 50 centimetres. The Jakarta Metropolitan Police Polairud SAR team assisted residents in moving their vehicles to safer locations,” he explained.

In addition to Kebon Pala, the Polairud Directorate also conducted patrols in the Pela Mampang area of Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta. Personnel were deployed to assist residents in need.

“SAR team members received support from military personnel to assist in the evacuation of residents affected by the flooding. The SAR team evacuated women, toddlers, the elderly, and residents who were unwell,” he added.
