Police Have Not Questioned Suspect in Alleged Toddler Sexual Assault Case in West Bekasi
Bekasi City, Kompas.com – Police are still probing a case of alleged sexual assault against a female toddler identified as A (1.9 years old) in Bintara, Bekasi Barat district, Bekasi City. To date, investigators from the Bekasi City Metropolitan Police have not questioned the suspect.
Head of the Unit for Protection of Women and Children and Eradication of Human Trafficking (Satuan PPA-PPO) of Bekasi City Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Rosdiana, said investigators have only questioned two witnesses related to the case.
‘We have not yet taken a statement from the suspect. So far two witnesses have been questioned,’ Rosdiana told Kompas.com on Thursday (5 March 2026).
‘The relocation of the suspected perpetrator, its relevance to this case is still under investigation. We are also still delving into the witnesses first,’ she said.
She stressed that handling cases involving children requires caution before investigators can designate someone as a suspect.
‘For handling a case involving children, we are very careful in designating someone as a suspect. Because strong evidence is required,’ she said.
Rosdiana explained that there are several stages in handling cases of alleged child sexual abuse, from receiving a report to medical examination and requesting statements from witnesses.
‘So when we handle sexual abuse cases, first is receiving the report, then conducting a medical examination, and then requesting statements from the complainant and witnesses related to the case,’ Rosdiana said.
The victim has undergone a medical examination as part of the investigation. However, investigators face a constraint because the child is still a toddler and cannot fully explain the chronology of events.
She confirmed the case is still at the investigative stage to determine whether it can be escalated to the stage of prosecution.
‘And then whether it can be upgraded to indictment or whatever comes next – we will see how things develop,’ she said.
Earlier reported, the toddler A was allegedly abused by a neighbour identified as R alias G (48) when entrusted by the child’s parents to work in December 2025. The incident is alleged to have occurred at a rented house in Bekasi Barat district.
The victim’s mother, FS (35), said that initially her child complained of pain in the genital area and often became hysterical when bathing. She initially suspected that the complaint resulted from the diaper size being too small. But after changing it, the condition did not improve, so she took her to the health centre.
‘My child complained of pain in the genital area. I immediately took her to the community health clinic; the midwife said the opening was not normal, try a medical examination. But report it to the police station first,’ FS told Kompas.com on Wednesday (4 March 2026).
‘The results of the medical examination were positive that indeed my child has been abused. There was a blunt object inserted into her genital opening,’ FS said.
The case is recorded in Police Report Number: LP/B/3287/XII/2025/SPKT/POLRES METRO BEKASI KOTA/POLDA METRO JAYA dated 24 December 2025.
