Police Handle 395 Labour Complaints Since 2025
Jombang (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s National Police (Polri) received 395 labour-related reports and complaints from 2025 to October 2026, of which 313 cases are still being handled.
National Police Chief General Suyudi Ario Seto said the complaints concerned a range of employment issues, particularly dismissals, severance pay, wage disputes, BPJS membership, and occupational safety and health (K3).
“The most frequently reported issues concern dismissals and severance pay, wage disputes, BPJS, and occupational safety and health, or K3,” the police chief said at the inauguration of the Labour Desk at Jombang Police Headquarters in East Java on Saturday.
He said that of the 395 labour-related reports and complaints, 144 were received in 2025 and 251 in 2026, up to October.
Polri established the Labour Desk on 20 January 2025 to address these issues. The service operates as an integrated centre for consultations, complaints and the handling of labour-related criminal offences.
According to the police chief, labour cases require careful handling because they directly affect workers’ rights and their families’ livelihoods.
As well as receiving and handling complaints, Polri’s Labour Desk also facilitates the resolution of disputes between workers and companies.
From 2025 to October 2026, Polri facilitated 10,973 workers’ return to work and helped secure workers’ entitlements totalling Rp70.28 billion.
He expressed hope that the expansion of the service would speed up the handling of local complaints and ensure that labour issues were dealt with professionally and fairly.
The police chief also stressed the importance of co-operation between the government, businesses and trade unions to balance the protection of workers’ rights with business continuity.
Also attending the inauguration were Andi Gani Nena Wea, the police chief’s adviser on labour affairs and president of the All-Indonesia Confederation of Trade Unions (KSPSI), along with hundreds of workers and other guests.
The event began with a ceremony, followed by the inauguration of the Labour Desk at Jombang Police Headquarters. The police chief also inspected the building designated for the Labour Desk.
